Angela and Perry Mollan are the Hostess and Guide/On-Site Manager, respectively, at the Katmai Wilderness Lodge. Perry is a third generation Alaskan and has worked in Katmai National Park and Preserve for nearly 30 years. Perry initially worked as a Guide, then became the Manager of Brooks Lodge in the interior of the park. Perry met his wife Angela there and they were married at the Brooks Lodge in 1995. After 18 years working in the interior of the park, Perry and Angela operated a halibut fishing charter boat for five years in Kukak Bay where the Katmai Wilderness Lodge is located. For the past five years the Katmai Wilderness Lodge and it's guests has been blessed with Perry and Angela's considerable experience. Yes, that is a Grumman Goose float plane in the background.

Chef Darrell Purdy honed his culinary skills literally around the globe, which he circumnavigated 3 times during his 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy. While serving on the USS New Jersey battleship, Darrell and other Navy Chefs had the opportunity to cook for President Ronald Reagan and his entourage of dignitaries.
In addition to his Navy training, Darrell attended the Long Beach Master Bakers Institute and the Culinary College of America at San Diego, and has served as a baking instructor. He enjoys providing guests with an array of delicious desserts that one might not expect in a wilderness setting. Darrell particularly enjoys serving up hot meals with the main entrees consisting of fresh caught local halibut, salmon and crab cooked to perfection. As Darrell says, “fresh caught seafood is as good as it gets.”
Darrell is a seasoned outdoorsman with a love of the wilderness, so the Katmai Wilderness Lodge has been a perfect match for him. Along with being in the great outdoors, Darrell enjoys music and playing the guitar.
 

Originally from Minnesota, John Rydeen has been a sports fishing and bear viewing guide in Alaska since 2000. John worked as a professional freshwater sports fishing guide in the Mulchatna River area on the mainland of Southwest Alaska and on the Ayakulik River area on Kodiak Island. He has guided sports fishers in the pursuit of all 5 species of Pacific salmon in addition to several species of trout. John spends the “off-seasons” at Homer, Alaska where he honed his skills at saltwater sports fishing for salmon and halibut. Although 2006 is John’s first season guiding on the Katmai Coast, he adapted very quickly and has already proven to be real asset to the on-site staff of the Katmai Wilderness Lodge.
